Humanitarian Crisis

The newsreader on NPR was referring to "the humanitarian crisis" in South Lebanon. Somehow, that makes it sound like an earthquake or a tidal wave hit. It's not a humanitarian crisis, it's a war. Whether they were blown up, had their house brought down on them, died from exposure, lack of medical aid, food or water due to roads and bridges being bombed out, they were all killed by Israel.

A similar euphemism is used in the Sudan.

Isn't it time we cut the crap and described things honestly? This has nothing to do, by the way, with whether Israel is justified, proportionate, or whatever. It's about the honest description of events.
